I had been distributing tracts in an outlying area about eight miles from town. Driving back toward San Ramon, I picked up David, an eighteen-year old young man who had been working on his dad’s farm. Our conversation soon turned to spiritual matters, and I was able to present the gospel to him. David opened his heart to the message of salvation, just as the Ethiopian responded to the gospel preached by Phillip in Acts 8:35. I pulled to the side of the road, and David bowed his head and received Jesus as his personal Savior. There is no greater thrill than to see another person pass from death unto life and become a child a God!
In the month of October, we had a wonderful Bible Conference at Iglesia Bautista El Calvario in San Ramon with Missionary Richard Comer. He greatly increased our understanding of basic Bible doctrines, using Hebrews 6:1-3 as his theme text. We will be having our Missions Conference in mid-November with several missionary speakers. Our aim is to encourage others to “lift up their eyes and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest.” (John 4:35). In spite of the financial crunch, our church is faithfully supporting Hispanic missionaries in other areas of the world.
There are twenty-four students in the Bible Institute this semester. The excitement and awe of new believers as they study and learn the Word of God motivates us in the ministry. The Lord knows exactly how to balance the battles and the blessings in our lives!
