Just as the apostle Paul tried to go to Bithynia and the Holy Spirit would not allow it (Acts 16:7), so the Lord has changed our lives and ministry in unexpected ways. Our most fruitful ministry in Costa Rica has been the founding and development of Calvary Baptist Church in San Ramon for the past twenty years. During this time, we have started and built several other churches in outlying areas.
In 2005, we turned this ministry over to national leadership and dedicated ourselves to developing village churches in needy areas. We have had a wonderful year of ministry reaching souls for Jesus and bringing new believers to maturity in Christ.
Recently, the national pastor resigned at Calvary Baptist Church in San Ramon. The church asked me to help them during this difficult time to which we agreed. Lynn and I have relocated to San Ramon and are “rebuilding the walls.” (Nehemiah 2:17,18) We have stepped back into a full schedule of services and activities at the church in San Ramon. However, we have continued to preach and minister to the small village churches as well. This situation has created a heavy schedule for us, but God is blessing on all sides.
Keep in mind that on the mission field when a pastor leaves a church, a pulpit committee can’t just go out and find another pastor. There aren’t enough pastors for the churches that exist! We constantly seek God’s guidance in the preparation of national leadership.
We want to adequately prepare men and women for service in God’s design for world evangelism.
We need you to hold us up before the Lord in intercessory prayer. More than ever, we realize that this is a spiritual battle with the forces of evil. However, “greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!” Thank you for supporting our ministry through your prayers and financial support. May God’s richest blessings be upon you!
Working together for Christ,
Russ and Lynn Turner
