April 2007 Prayer Letter

Dear Friends,

Blessings! Blessings! Blessings! Since our last newsletter (January, 2007), God has poured out bountiful blessings upon us! After living for eight months in the church annex, we finally found a house to rent. Both Lynn and I are so grateful to be able to vacate the two Sunday School rooms where we lived and “stretch out” in a real house!   There is always much re-conditioning to do to a rental house: such as installing 220 volts for stove and dryer, building window screens to deter dengue-laden mosquitoes, requesting phone installation from the power company, replacing broken locks and lamp sockets, stopping water leaks, and a host of other repairs.

This past month was truly “March Madness” with a flurry of church activities! I was invited to preach two anniversary conferences at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Hatillo and Tibas Baptist Temple in Tibas. Then we celebrated our own anniversary conference at Calvary Baptist Church in San Ramon. Brother Roy Seals was our conference speaker and brought challenging messages to God’s people. God has blessed us with a number of new people who have trusted Christ as Savior in this past month. They are being discipled through the Bible study course which we offer to new believers.

We are in the process of replacing the roof on the church in San Ramon. This involves the removal of the old tin roofing and fastening new structural roofing to the trusses. The Lord has supplied this need ($4,000), not only through the tithes and offerings of the church itself, but also through a special gift given by a fellow missionary. This person exhibited the heart of Barnabas (Acts 4:36, 37) in this generous gift for missions.

The old roofing from Calvary Baptist will be used to roof our new church building in Concepcion, a farming town seven miles outside of San Ramon. The pastor, Felix Granados, is leading this church in spiritual and numerical growth.

New Life Baptist Church in Atenas is growing in number and spiritual strength under the leadership of Pastor Jeremy Orellana. Lynn and I spent one year in the development of that church and now minister there on Tuesday nights.

Thank you for being an important part of our ministry through prayer and financial support! May God richly bless each of you.

Working together for Christ,

The Turners (Russ and Lynn)
